Documentation · v1.0

Welcome

This is the official documentation for Meridian - a democratized human spaceflight selection platform built on Robinhood Chain. These docs cover how the network verifies candidates, how the three-phase selection actually works, and what the $MERIDIAN token does and doesn't do.

What is Meridian

Meridian is a selection platform that puts everyday people - not test pilots, not billionaires - into real seats on a real commercial spaceflight. It reserves six seats per flight, and runs the candidate selection process publicly, onchain, on Robinhood Chain.

This is not a giveaway and not a raffle in the casual sense. Every candidate is verified as a real, unique, eligible person before a single vote counts - see Ground Truth - and the process that decides who flies is documented in full in Three-Phase Selection.

Why Meridian

Commercial spaceflight seats are currently allocated one of two ways: purchased outright at prices that exclude almost everyone, or awarded through opaque internal selection nobody outside the company can audit. Meridian exists as a third option - publicly run, identity-verified, and checkable at every stage.

What this is not: Meridian is not a lottery where money buys a guaranteed outcome, and it is not a popularity contest with no eligibility floor. Ground Truth screens for eligibility first; the vote happens second.

Mission & Vision

Meridian exists so the offworld economy isn't limited to the people who could already afford to get there. In 2022, Victor Hespanha - a 29-year-old civil engineer from Brazil - became Brazil's second astronaut and the first civilian to fly, aboard the first crewed suborbital mission. Meridian's long-term vision extends past selection: a platform where members can propose, fund, and run their own space-adjacent research, not just vote on someone else's.

Network

How It Works

Three layers, each gating what the next one can do:

01

Identity

Ground Truth issues one non-transferable credential per verified human, confirming age, nationality, and uniqueness before anything else can happen.

02

Selection

A three-phase process - candidacy, collective action, crew selection - narrows five regional fields down to one international crew.

03

Settlement

$MERIDIAN pledges, staking, and treasury activity run onchain, on Robinhood Chain, independently checkable by anyone.

Network

Ground Truth

A badge-and-pledge selection system is normally vulnerable to whoever controls the most wallets. Because the prize here is a physical seat on a real rocket, a winning candidate has to be one real, eligible person - verified before the vote starts, not disputed after it ends.

What it confirms

  • One credential, one person - non-transferable, issued once per verified human
  • Built on Robinhood Chain's existing identity verification, rather than a redundant KYC pipeline
  • Age 18+ and declared nationality, checked before Phase 1 opens
What Ground Truth doesn't do: it does not confirm a candidate will pass the mission's physical or medical astronaut-fitness requirements. That is a separate, later, real-world process run on finalists only.

$MERIDIAN Token

Overview & Utility

$MERIDIAN is a real, tradeable token on Robinhood Chain - not an in-app score. It has three functions:

  • Pledge power - back a candidate's leaderboard position. Pledged $MERIDIAN returns to the pledger after Phase 2 regardless of outcome.
  • Staking yield - stake to earn a share of real platform revenue: brand partnerships, broadcast licensing, sponsored placements.
  • Governance - vote on platform rules: regional seat allocation, badge thresholds, phase timing.
The guardrail: the final crew vote stays weighted by earned badges, not $MERIDIAN balance. Money can help a candidate get noticed. It doesn't cast the vote that puts them on the rocket.

Staking

Staked $MERIDIAN earns a share of platform revenue - not newly issued tokens. Revenue sources currently include brand partnership deals and broadcast licensing from crew training footage. Staking does not increase governance weight beyond one-token-one-vote, and does not affect the crew-selection vote, which remains badge-weighted regardless of stake size.

Guides

Candidate Guide

01

Get your Ground Truth credential

Connect Robinhood Wallet. If you're already verified there, your credential issues automatically - no second KYC form.

02

Build your Mission profile

Tell your story. This is what earns organic $MERIDIAN pledges in Phase 2 - a thin profile earns thin support.

03

Earn or acquire $MERIDIAN

Unlock your Astronaut Candidate badge, then build your regional standing through Phase 1 and 2.

04

Complete third-party KYC

Required in Phase 2 to confirm your regional eligibility - separate from, and deeper than, Ground Truth.

05

Train, if selected

The winning crew reports for astronaut training roughly 8-10 weeks before launch. A medical or fitness disqualification during training promotes the next-ranked runner-up in that seat category - it does not trigger a re-vote.

Guides

Verifier Guide

Independent vote observers confirm the final crew vote tally matches the onchain record before it's announced. This role is deliberately outside Meridian's own operations.

01

Eligibility

Must hold no financial stake in the outcome - no $MERIDIAN pledged to any candidate in the active cycle.

02

Access

Read access to the onchain vote contract - the same data anyone can query, not a privileged feed.

03

Publish

An independent tally, published alongside Meridian's own count - not instead of it.
